Jazz Chisholm takes to social media to vent about strike call minutes after ejection

Jazz Chisholm let home plate umpire John Bacon know that he didn’t like a strike three call that punched him out in the seventh inning of Thursday’s win over the Rays, and minutes later, he let the world know about it.

Chisholm was rung up on a fastball that was clearly below the strike zone, and he immediately took off his helmet and began jawing at Bacon. Aaron Boone came in between the two to try and cool his second baseman down, but Chisholm said something to prompt the ejection from Bacon. After some more choice words, Chisholm left the field, and minutes later, posted on X (formerly known as Twitter), “Not even f----g close!”

Chisholm deleted the post shortly after.

Ironically, Chisholm could have been rung up on a previous pitch that seemed to catch the outside corner, but Bacon ruled it a ball. Chisholm worked the count full before he struck out looking while the Yanks were holding their 6-3 lead in the seventh.

Chisholm made his impact on the game before he was thrown out, as he drew a leadoff walk, advanced to third on a single, and scored on a groundout to give the Bombers the lead for good en route to a fourth straight victory.
