Shortly after sending Luis Gil down to Triple-A, the Yankees will be calling up hyped pitching prospect Elmer Rodriguez to start Wednesday's series finale against the Rangers.

Aaron Boone revealed the news in his weekly spot with Talkin' Yanks Tuesday morning (and initially reported by YankeesFarm), breaking the news that the team's No. 3 prospect will oppose infamous Yankee killer Nathan Eovaldi in Texas.

Rodriguez, a top 100 prospect in baseball, has pitched to an impressive 1.27 ERA with Triple-A Scranton so far this season through four starts. The 22-year-old righty has struck out 20 batters in 21.1 innings of work.

Sarah Langs of MLB.com added that Rodriguez will become the youngest Yankee to start a game since Deivi Garcia back in 2021.

With Rodriguez getting the ball on Wednesday, previously listed starter Will Warren will likely be pushed back to Friday.
