The Yankees should be getting a huge offensive reinforcement back in time for the ALDS, and he apparently is already showing that he still has his sweet home run stroke.

Matt Carpenter, working his way back from a foot fracture, is expected to be on the roster when the Yankees begin their playoff run on Tuesday night, as Aaron Boone has like what he’s seen from the veteran in his work in batting practice.

“I fully expect that,” Boone said. “He looks great. He's been getting all his live at-bats, he actually took Nestor deep yesterday.

“He looks good swinging the bat. I am expecting that.”

Carpenter has been out nearly two months with the foot fracture, but before his injury, he was one of the top hitters in the lineup, batting .305 with a robust 1.138 OPS and 15 home runs. If he can hit to that level again in October, it would be a massive boost to the Yankee lineup, though it remains to be seen how he will be deployed since Giancarlo Stanton is not expected to play the field in the postseason due to his Achilles injury.
