A father has been arrested after his 9-year-old son was rushed to the hospital with a gunshot wound.
The incident happened on Morang near I-94 on Detroit's east side.
Police told WWJ 950 the father says he was cleaning his handgun when it accidentally discharged and hit the boy.

The child was last reported in temporary serious condition after his dad rushed him to the hospital. The dad was later arrested while police investigate the circumstances surrounding the gun and the shooting. Unknown is if the gun was legally registered, if the father had a concealed weapons permit or if it was properly secured in the house.
Police also have not yet said where the child was hit.
