2 Detroit Police Officers Injured In Crash On I-75

DETROIT (WWJ) - Two Detroit police officers were taken to the hospital after their SUV was involved in a crash along I-75.

The crash happened around 3:50 a.m. Friday on southbound I-75 near Clay Street, not far from the Russell Industrial Center.


Michigan State Police say the officers were responded to a call with the cruiser's lights and siren activated when an older model Chevy Blazer that was also heading southbound drove into the path of the patrol car, hitting it.

Both officers and the driver of the other vehicle all received minor injuries and were taken to the hospital. 

The crash remains under investigation. Police say dash cam footage will be reviewed. 

Only the left lane remains open from Caniff to Clay as police continue to investigate the scene. Drivers are urged to avoid the area.
