DETROIT (WWJ) -- A Detroit family in mourning is reaching out for help in finding justice for one of their loved ones.

A gang-related murder left 20-year-old Winston Davis Williams dead last month and now Crimestoppers of Michigan is stepping up to help the family. Crimestoppers is offering up to a $2,500 cash reward for any tips that lead to the arrest of the suspect.

Shortly before 6 p.m. on April 16, Williams had gone with a friend to meet someone when he was gunned down in the area of Asbury Park and Plymouth on Detroit's west side. Detroit police say they know who the murderer is, but are unsure of his name. He goes by the street name "Stacks" and belongs to the Detroit gang called "Jack Boys."

Sheilah Carter, the victim's mother, spoke Thursday, pleading for help.

"We want justice. We want to find justice for him or we're never going to be the same again. It really tore our family apart," Carter said.

"Every day before he left for work, he always told us how much he loved us, how he would see us when he got home from work," Carter said. "And at night time before he went to sleep: 'I love you mama, I love you granddaddy, I love you nanna.' He would always tuck his brother into bed."

Tips can be submitted in two ways, call 1-800-SPEAK-UP or on the website at www.1800speakup.org. Those who submit tips will remain anonymous. In the last six years, Crime Stoppers has received more than 33,000 anonymous tips from the public and has awarded more than $530,000 in cash rewards to anonymous tipsters.
