DETROIT (WWJ) -- Detroit police are searching for a suspect in a drive-by shooting Wednesday night on the city's northeast side.
Police say a 26-year-old man was heading west on E. 7 Mile Road when he stopped at a red light near Conant Street, east of I-75. That's when an unknown suspect pulled up next to his vehicle and began shooting.
WWJ's Jon Hewett spoke with a resident in the area who witnessed the shooting.
"It was so quick. Pop, pop, pop, pop," the witness said. "I was like, 'what the heck's going on?' I looked up and a car whipped past me and the guy who got shot pulled up."
The witness says he saw somebody else get out of their car and help pull the victim out of his vehicle, putting him into another vehicle and taking off before police even arrived.
The victim was reportedly bleeding from the back and is believed to be hospitalized, but his condition is unknown.
Police believe the suspect was driving a black Chevy Malibu.
Authorities are still investigating.
