SOUTHFIELD (WWJ) - Michigan State Police say a big drug bust has disrupted the flow of heroin and other illegal narcotics into Downriver communities.
Following a months long investigation, police said officers with the MSP's Downriver Area Narcotics Organization -- or "DRANO" -- executed four search warrants Wednesday in Southfield, Taylor and Detroit.
During those seaches, three suspects were arrested and approximately 3.3 pounds of cocaine, three-quarters of a pound of heroin/fentanyl were discovered. Along with the drugs, police also seized two AR-15 rifles, three pistols and $72,655 in cash.
Police said all three of the suspects were identified as 43-year-old men; one from Taylor, one from Southfield and one from Detroit. Their names were not immediately released, with formal charges pending.
DRANO is a multi-jurisdictional narcotics task force comprised of officers from the Michigan State Police, Taylor Police Department, Melvindale Police Department, Southgate Police Department, Allen Park Police Department and the Ecorse Police Department.
