(WWJ) Here's a warning from law enforcement: Be careful on those dune buggies!

Seven people, including a metro Detroit resident, were injured in five separate crashes this weekend on Silver Lake Sand Dunes along Lake Michigan.

The local man was from Clarkston. Police report that the 21-year-old lost control of his 2019 Polaris RZR before noon on Saturday, June 27, after riding over tire tracks from another vehicle.

The vehicle overturned and the driver suffered hand injuries. He and his passenger, a 15-year-old from Belding, were taken to Mercy Health’s Lakeshore Campus in Shelby. It was unknown if they were wearing helmets, according to the report.

The previous weekend brought another five crashes. Authorities say most of the crashes involved ORV's going too fast for conditions, becoming airborne and rolling over.

While there have not been any fatalities, authorities note that many of the people involved in the crashes were not wearing helmets.
