NOVI (WWJ) - Authorities have ended their search of the southern end of Walled Lake in southwestern Oakland County.
The operation began Wednesday morning at around 8 a.m., after the Oakland County Sheriff's Office received unconfirmed reports of person in the water.
Novi police said they found floatation device in the water in the same area that the complainant had last seen the subject. The OCSO Marine Unit responded with a boat to search the lake, while Novi Police and Fire were searching from the shoreline.
Novi Police Chief David Molloy noted that there had been no reports of missing people or boaters in the area.
At 10 a.m. Wednesday, Novi police ended their effort while the OCSO Marine Unit and the OCSO Aviation Unit continued to search the lake.
In an update issued Thursday, the OCOS said no one, and no additional evidence of anything amiss, was found.
After Oakland County Central Dispatch received a call from another witness who said she saw a kayaker pull his watercraft out of the lake at around 6:30 a.m. Thursday, the search was terminated.
