DETROIT (WWJ) - Authorities are investigating an apparent murder after a body was found inside a burning home in southwest Detroit.
Crews responded around 2 a.m. Thursday after a vacant house caught fire along South Liebold Street, in the area of Fort Street and I-75. The fire also spread to a second home, though officials weren't immediately sure if that residence was occupied.
After both fires were extinguished, crews found a body inside one of the homes. Authorities say the victim is a male, burned beyond recognition. His identity and a cause of death aren't yet known.
The fire is considered suspicious, though a cause has yet to be determined.
Authorities say the incident is being investigated as a homicide.
