(WWJ) - The owner of an engineering firm has been convicted on federal bribery charges related to business in Macomb County.
The U.S. Attorney's office says 58-year old Fazullah Khan of Troy tried to bribe two Washington Township officials in 2014 by giving one $10,000 in exchange for a million dollar contract, and the other an interest in a property development deal in exchange for help getting water and sewer lines to Khan's property.
The two officials were working with the FBI as part of a widespread corruption investigation in Macomb County.
A total of 22 people have been convicted or taken a plea deal as part of the investigation.
A jury convicted Khan on four counts of bribery.
Khan faces up to 40 years in prison. Sentencing is set for Nov. 26.
