(WWJ) A Clinton Township man has been indicted for the armed robbery of a pharmacy in Hamtramck.
Police say Marcus McBride, 27, walked into The Hoover Pharmacy on Holbrook on June 10th, pointed a gun and told everyone in the store to get down.
He made off with nearly 4,000 pills, including the highly addictive Oxycodone. The pills have an estimated value of $100,000 on the street.
And there's this: Prosecutors say McBride wasn't hard to find because at the time of the robbery he was on probation and wearing a Department of Corrections ankle bracelet with a constantly pinging GPS that showed his location.
The GPS placed him at the scene.
According to Michigan Department of Corrections records, McBride was paroled in June 2019 after a 2013 conviction for second-degree home invasion in Wayne County. He had been sentenced to 1-15 years in prison
The feds assisted Hamtramck in the investigation of the pharmacy robbery.
"I would like to thank the hardworking men and women of the Hamtramck Police Department, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the United States Attorney's office for their hard work on this case," Hamtramck Police Chief Anne Moise said. "Our agency appreciates the great partnerships we have with our state and federal agencies."
