(WWJ) Mount Pleasant officials are investigating a deadly shooting that took place near Central Michigan University last night.
Officers found a 22-year-old man dead around 6 p.m. after they heard reports of a shooting. They say the victim was CMU student.
They are still looking for the suspect this morning.
The shooting happened at Campus Habitat, in the 700 block of Edgewood Drive. Officers responded to the call at 5:57 p.m. Monday.
Officers quickly identified a person of interest and are speaking with witnesses. They say it is not a random crime and there is no risk to the public.
The name of the victim will be released pending the notification of family members. This is an ongoing investigation.
The Mt. Pleasant Police Department was assisted by Michigan State Police, Isabella County Sheriff's Department, Central Michigan University Police, Mobile Medical Response and Mid-Michigan Investigative Narcotics Team.
