STERLING HEIGHTS, Mich. (WWJ) -- An investigation is underway in Sterling Heights after a milky, white substance was found in a drain.
As clean-up efforts are ongoing, Miller says search is on for the culprit.
"If we can find the source of, the genesis of this contamination, we do intend to prosecute," Miller said. "People get used to just dumping things into the drain and thinking they go away and no one cares. That's not happening anymore. We do care. And if we find you and you've done that on purpose, we intend to prosecute you to the fullest extent under the law."
Miller says the drain is in an industrial area and it is likely the substance came from one of the nearby industrial worksites.
Anyone who sees pollution should report it to the Macomb County Public Works Office at 877-679-4337.
