DETROIT (WWJ) -- Police are investigating after an apparent home invasion ended in a fatal shooting on the city's west side Tuesday night.
Authorities say around 9:45 p.m. in the area of Chopin Street and Panama Avenue, north of I-94, a Hispanic man was shot and killed. The victim his believed to be in his early 20s.
Preliminary investigations show another Hispanic male in his late 30s was outside his home with his children, when he heard a commotion inside. When he went inside to investigate, the victim was standing inside with a shotgun. The homeowner grabbed his own gun and shot the alleged home invader.
Police said they have not confirmed it was a home invasion, as the investigation is still underway.
As of 10:30 p.m., no arrests had been made.
