DETROIT (WWJ) - A 14-year-old Detroit boy is credited with saving his family after a fire broke out at their west side home overnight.
The teen was up watching TV around 3 a.m. Tuesday when he noticed a fire in the kitchen of his home on Alpine Street, near Joy and Livernois. He woke up his mother and siblings and everyone was able to make it out of the house safely.
The house appears to be a total loss.
A cause of the fire remains under investigation.
