BELLE ISLE (WWJ) - Police are investigating a crash on Belle Isle that sent a vehicle airborne.
The crash happened Thursday morning at the entrance to the island park.
Michigan State Police say a driver was going onto the island over the MacArthur bridge when they missed the turn and vaulted over the hill at the entrance to the park. The vehicle then rolled over, trapping the driver inside.
Detroit firefighters responded to the scene and rescued the driver from the vehicle. Police say the person was suffering from some cold weather injuries and was taken to the hospital.
The crash remains under investigation.
