Elderly Woman Accused Of Shooting Neighbor In Foot After Argument

DETROIT (WWJ) - An elderly Detroit woman is facing multiple felony charges after she allegedly shot and wounded a neighbor. 

It happened at around 12:30 p.m. Thursday, July 18, according to authorities, in a neighborhood east of Wyoming and north of W. McNichols. 


Wayne County Prosecutors allege that 71-year-old Andrea H. Williams had gotten into an argument with her 69-year-old male neighbor while he was cutting his lawn in the in the 17400 block of Indiana Ave. 

At some point, prosecutors said, Williams got a handgun and shot the man in the foot. She also waived the gun around and pointed it at a man and two women during the incident, prosecutors allege.

The wounded victim was taken to a local hospital for treatment.

Williams is charged with one count of assault with intent to do great bodily harm, three counts of felonious assault, carrying a dangerous weapon with unlawful intent, and five counts of felony firearm. 

She was arraigned in 34th District Court in Romulus Sunday and released on a $5,000, 10 percent bond on the conditions she not approach or contact any of the alleged victims.  

Prosecutors did not say what the dispute was about.
