
DETROIT (WWJ) - Police are investigating an overnight shooting along I-75 that left a man dead.
Police received a single 911 call around 3:30 a.m. Saturday that a shooting occurred between two vehicles that were traveling southbound on the freeway near the Rouge River Bridge. The witness told police one of the vehicles was a silver or white Chrysler 300.
While investigating that report, police were contacted at 3:55 a.m. by officials at Oakwood Hospital about a gunshot victim seeking treatment. That man, a 28-year-old from Lincoln Park, later died at the hospital.
Michigan State Police troopers closed southbound I-75 at Livernois around 5:30 a.m. to locate the possible location of the shooting and search for evidence. The freeway was reopened to traffic around 8:45 a.m.
The suspect remains at large. A description hasn't been released.
