DETROIT (WWJ) - Residents on the west side of Detroit are dodging potholes like normal, but now a massive sinkhole is causing concern as well.
The sinkhole is located along Northlawn Street at Joy Road, west of I-96. It's about 5 feet wide by 8 to 10 feet long and 4 feet or more deep.
It's not clear when the hole opened up, but a video that was posted to Facebook on Sunday shows the massive crater. Authorities have since erected cement barriers around it.
It's also not clear how long repairs will take.
Sinkhole - one word or two? When it's this big, one: Wow! North lawn at Joy Rd., west side of Detroit. This crater is all of 10' x 5' and at least 4' deep, takes by up most of Noryhlawn south of Joy. It also kinda stinks - sewerage-ey. Might just want to avoid the area. @WWJ950 pic.twitter.com/A1EhtE2bXi
