(WWJ) Metro Detroiters -- and the rest of the world -- really, really love their pick-up trucks. Really, with a capital 'R.'

Don't believe it? Ford Motor Company commissioned an online Great American Truck Survey where 2,000 owners weighed in on how much they love their rides, and what they would give up to keep it.

People surveyed revealed that instead of giving up their truck for a year:

  • 79% would give up drinking alcohol.
  • 82% would give up Netflix, Hulu, or Amazon Prime Video.
  • 71% would give up drinking coffee.
  • 47% would give up using a phone.
  • 44% would give up eating meat.
  • 38% would give up sex.

Nearly 40% of owners love their truck more than sex? See the entire survey HERE.

It doesn't surprise John McElroy, who's regularly heard on WWJ 950 as an auto industry expert.

"Pickup owners are the most loyal in the business," he told freep.com. "You’ve probably seen the bumper stickers , 'I’d rather push a Ford than drive a Chevy.' It’s hopeless to try and get them to switch brands. To them that’s treason."

And some of those trucks are lifting heavy emotional weight in addition to whatever else they're carrying The survey found that truck ownership leaves people feeling:

  • Capable (48%)
  • Dependable (48%)
  • Self-reliant (43%)
  • Proud (35%)
  • Accomplished (21%)

And some even add those warm feelings to their bodies, with 15% of respondents saying they have a tattoo of their truck; Another 25% have named their ride.

The most popular names include Big Bertha, Betty and Cognito ... for those who like to ride 'in Cognito."
