(WWJ) As gyms, hair salons and more start to slowly re-open across the Midwest, one owner is under fire for what many are calling an insensitive -- at best -- promotion.
It was an I Can't Breathe circuit workout.
The workout 's moves were printed on a large whiteboard inside the gym with the headline, "I Can't Breathe," which were among the final words for George Floyd who died after Officer Derek Chauvin knelt on the back of his neck for 8 minutes, 46 seconds. Chauvin is now charged with second-degree murder and manslaughter for the death that set off sometimes-violent protests across the country.
Why put together this workout? Jen Dunnington, co-owner of Anytime Fitness in Wauwatosa, Wisc., told TMZ Sports the workout attempted to "honor" George Floyd.
TMZ reported that hundreds of people commented on the sign -- calling it inappropriate and appalling.
Dunnington said she regrets the sign's verbiage, adding, "I deeply apologize."
