LATHRUP VILLAGE (WWJ) A crash killed a motorcyclist in Lathrup Village, police said.
Lathrup Village Police said the crash happened on Tuesday, August 11, at approximately 5:00 p.m., in the area of Southfield Road and Sunset Boulevard, near 12 Mile.
Their preliminary investigation indicates the motorcyclist was "driving erratically" northbound on Southfield. Several witnesses told investigators the driver entered the intersection on a red light and collided with another vehicle.
The impact ejected the motorcyclist, causing "severe injuries."
According to police, officers attempted CPR and other life-saving measures. First responders pronounced the motorcyclist dead at the scene. Authorities notified the family.
First responders treated the people in the second vehicle for injuries at the scene and released them.
The Oakland County Sheriff's Office also assisted with the investigation.
Lathrup Village Police said in the release: "We extend our deepest condolences to the family of the deceased."
