HARPER WOODS, Mich. (WWJ) -- Police say they have three suspects in custody and are searching for several more after a shootout in Harper Woods Thursday night.
The Harper Woods Department of Public Safety tells WWJ around 7:30 p.m. Thursday they responded to the 19700 block of Damman Street near Beaconsfield Street on reports of multiple gunshots being fired. Upon arrival, officers saw several people fleeing the location.
At least 20 shell casings from different weapons were recovered at a residence and in the street.
Three people were arrested, but police are actively searching for additional suspects.
At least two residences in the area sustained damage during the outburst of gunfire.
Police did not say what led to the shooting and did not immediately have descriptions available for any of the suspects at large.
Detectives were still at the scene as of 10:30 p.m. and were investigating.
