Novi (WWJ) Area Police, Fire and EMS personnel showed respect for health workers Thursday in what they're calling a "Solidarity Cruise". They took a lap around Providence Parkway at Ascension Hospital in Novi.
The emergency vehicles were staged near Suburban Collection Showplace and made their way down to the hospital campus with emergency lights on, but no sirens.
With nearly 34 thousand cases and nearly three thousand deaths in the state of Michigan as of Thursday, the health care system is stressed. This kind of show of support can be a shot in the arm for workers.
Additional cruises have been organized around Pontiac General Hospital, McLaren Pontiac and St. Joe Pontiac to show support for the healthcare workers and support staff working there.
WYCD morning host Steve Grunwald took part in the cruise. He's a member of the Wolverine Lake police force and describing the emotion he felt said, "It kind of gives you a chill seeing all of us together like that."
