DETROIT (WWJ) - Kids across in southeast Michigan are getting a day off school after an overnight ice storm left area roads and sidewalks slippery and frozen.

More than 700 schools are closed Wednesday — including all public schools in Macomb County, as well as all Detroit public schools.

A Winter Weather Advisory remains in effect through 1 p.m. Wednesday for all of southeast Michigan.

Forecasters say widespread freezing rain with some sleet will continue through the morning, changing slowly to rain as temperatures warm in the afternoon. Additional ice accumulations of around a tenth of an inch are expected before the weather advisory expires.

Treacherous and slick travel conditions are likely, especially on untreated roadways, bridges, exit ramps and overpasses. Isolated power outages are also possible due to ice accumulations.

Here's a look at the forecast from the WWJ Weather Team:

Wednesday -- A bit of rain, freezing on surfaces early; cloudy. High 39. Low 32.

Thursday -- Periods of rain, otherwise cloudy. High 49. Low 22.

Friday -- Mostly cloudy; breezy. High 27. Low 12.

Saturday -- Mostly sunny; chilly. High 25. Low 16.

Sunday -- Cloudy, some snow in the afternoon. High 31. Low 21.
