DETROIT (WWJ) - Border agents in Detroit have arrested a Honduran man in connection with a sex crime involving a child.
Agents say the 24-year-old man was taken into custody during a traffic stop Thursday morning. He is wanted on three counts of first-degree criminal sexual conduct and one count of third-degree criminal sexual conduct.
The suspect, described as an illegal immigrant, has been turned over to Detroit Police for an investigation. Following the case, he will be turned back over to the U.S. Border Patrol.
"This is a great example of how law enforcement agencies can work together to make our communities a safer place to work and live," Acting Chief Patrol Agent Alan Booth said in a statement. "My hat goes off to the Agents and Officers who worked tirelessly to locate and arrest this individual today."
