HOWELL, Mich. (WWJ) -- If your kids love nature and you're looking for a summer camp, you may want to head to Livingston County.

The Howell Nature Center is spread across 230 acres and includes a wildlife rehabilitation clinic and an adventure education center. Camp Wonder offers a variety of summer camps for kids looking to get in touch with nature over the summer.

Tom Correll, program manager at the center, says it’s the perfect place to host nature-based summer camps for kids in grades K-8.

"We have a lot of nature programs, but really, it’s just a lot of traditional camp fun," Correll told WWJ's Brooke Allen. "They go swimming and they do archery, and kayaking and canoeing. Because we are a nature and wildlife center, a rehabilitation center, we’ve got the animals that live here on a year-round basis, so they get to experience those programs too."

A nature hike, a pond study, or an introduction to Yeti, the snowy owl. Those are just some of the things kids will experience during the summer camps at the Howell Nature Center.

The camp has different themes each week, ranging from a Safari Adventure to Superheroes of Summer. The nature center offers a variety of packages, including a full week, two-day or three-day choices. There are day camp and overnight options.
