**UPDATE 2PM: Detroit Police Looking For Gunman Who Slipped Away During Standoff
=============================
(WWJ) A barricaded gunman remains holed up in a home on the city's west side Thursday morning, hours after the situation was first discovered.
WWJ's Charlie Langton is there.
The incident started at about midnight on Ellsworth Street, near Finkell and Wyoming, when a 35-year-old man barricaded himself inside amid accusations that he shot someone yesterday. Details of that shooting are unknown.
The scene at the home was extra tense in the early morning hours, as the gunman had a 13-year-old inside with him, who was considered a hostage.
After negotiations with police, he released the girl, who turned out to be his daughter.
That release was without drama as Detroit Police Cmdr. Darren Szilagy told Langton police "leveraged all of our technical aspects, developed contact numbers and asked for her release."
She was released without incident.
"I understand that she's fine at this time," Szilagy said.
