DETROIT (WWJ) - A 25-year-old man has been charged with attempted murder in a shooting that reportedly stemmed from an argument over a pair of gym shoes.
Trevaun Marquise Pearson was arraigned Friday on charges of assault with intent to murder, assault with intent to do great bodily harm, carrying a concealed weapon and felony firearm. Bond was set at $200,000.
The incident unfolded around 12:35 p.m. Wednesday in the area Woodward Avenue just north of Mack Avenue in Midtown Detroit. According to police, the 30-year-old victim had gotten into an altercation with Pearson, during which Pearson allegedly pulled out a gun and fired two shots at the victim, striking him in the face and lower back.
Detroit Transit Officers found the victim lying in the street and called for medics, who transported to the victim to the hospital.
Pearson fled the scene on foot but was arrested a short time later in the 4200 block of Woodward, between Willis and Canfield streets.
Police did not disclose any details about what led to the altercation or shooting, but reports indicate that the two were arguing over a pair of gym shoes while on a bus in the area.
Pearson is due back in court for a probable cause conference on April 18, followed by a preliminary exam on April 25.
