Man Charged In Beating Of School Bus Driver Caught On Video

DETROIT (WWJ) - Authorities say one of two men seen on video beating up a Detroit school bus driver is behind bars.

Reshawn Clark, 29, was arrested last Friday and arraigned in 36th District Court Monday on charges of unarmed robbery, assault with intent to do great bodily harm and larceny in from a person.


The Wayne County Prosecutor's Office says the victim was driving a school bus -- with children on board -- on January 25, when Clark and another man got on the bus at Asbury Park and Diversey, near Tireman and the Southfield Freeway.

Video released by police last week shows the pair assaulting the driver, striking him several times in the face and head before running away. According to prosector, Clark and his accomplice, who has not yet been identified, also took the driver's personal property.

The driver, identified as a 63-year-old Grand Blanc man, was taken to a local hospital for treatment of his injuries. No students were hurt. 

Clark, a Detroit resident. remains held on in the Wayne County Jail a $50,000 cash/surety bond. He will be back in court for a probable cause conference on February 12, followed by preliminary exam on February 19.

The investigation regarding the second suspect is ongoing.
