ST. CLAIR SHORES (WWJ) -- A mess of hand-written political lawn signs are drawing eyes, and a lot of opinions, in a St. Clair Shores neighborhood.
The homeowner on Culver Street, who doesn't identify with a specific political party, has one sign posted urging people not to vote.
Other signs are Islamophobic. One talks about pedophiles, and another about demons. There are 20 or so signs in total.
St. Clair Shores resident Carl Braga is among those who'd like to see the signs taken down.
"It doesn't make the neighborhood look too good. You know, with these kids running around and seeing these signs and stuff, and the social media stuff. It's scary," he said.
WWJ's Charlie Langton said, also making neighbors nervous, there's a gun in the window of the home.
Jennifer Scharboneau, who lives across the street from the home, said the signs have been up for about a week, and many in the neighborhood aren't happy about it.
She said St. Clair Shores Police have been by the house, but said they can't do anything about it.
"It's awful, it's awful," Scharboneau told Langton. "In fact, the neighbors over here, he came and walked his dog by and (the homeowner) called him a demon outside and said 'You better have pistol.' The cops came out, didn't seem to care, talked about freedom of speech. But the freedom of speech to me? That's inciting violence."
Monday morning, Langton reported that there was no sign that the signs would be removed anytime soon.
