EASTPOINTE (WWJ) - Authorities are investigating a deadly shooting outside of a senior living center in Eastpointe.
The incident happened around 3:45 a.m. Friday in the back parking lot of Oakwood Manor Senior Living on Nehls Avenue, near 9 Mile Road and Gratiot Avenue.
Police say a number of witnesses called 911 after hearing gunshots and reported that a dark-colored sedan fled the scene at a quick pace.

— Mike Campbell (@reportermikec) June 14, 2019Officers arrived on the scene and found a black Dodge truck up on a rock with its engine still running and the back window shot out. A man was also lying on the ground.
"They found an African American male in his late 20s to early 30s suffering from multiple gunshot wounds," Lt. Dave Ernatt told WWJ's Mike Campbell. "There was a weapon recovered at the scene, along with multiple casings. ... I would say probably anywhere between six to 10 casings, from what I saw. "
The victim was taken to the hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Ernatt said officers who arrived at the scene just a minute after the shooting was reported did not see any vehicles in the area that matched the description provided by witnesses.
The incident remains under investigation.
