Man Fighting For Life After Overnight Shooting In Eastpointe

EASTPOINTE, Mich. (WWJ) -- Police are searching for a suspect after a shooting in Eastpointe early Sunday morning has left a man fighting for his life.

Authorities tell WWJ a 20-year-old man was with two other people in the basement of a home in the 23000 block of Normandy Avenue, near 9 Mile Road and Gratiot Avenue around 1 a.m. when a suspect broke into the home. Police say the accused shooter entered through a side door, ran down the basement steps and shot the man in the head.

Witnesses told police the suspect fled the home in an unknown direction. Police were interviewing the witnesses Sunday morning.

Police say there is no known motive for the shooting.

The victim is listed in critical condition and the suspect is still on the run.
