(WWJ) How much is that doggy in the window? One man essentially was robbed blind after asking that question.
A downriver man told police he was looking for a new best friend online but instead he's trying to fetch his money from fraudsters.
Trenton Police say the man found a pooch he wanted and agreed to pay $550 through his banking app to a website to pay for it.
But, when his floof didn't arrive, he called the contact number for the site. That's when he said a man with foreign accent told him he would need to pay a thousand dollars for shipping.
He paid.
The $1,000 dog never arrived. Ane when he tried to follow up, the telephone number the man called was no longer in service.
A police report filed with Trenton Police says the man has never received the dog or a refund.
A reminder: Don't send money online to people you don't know for items you've never seen in person. As WikiHow points out, "If an ad for a dog seems poorly written or too good to be true, there's a good chance it's a scam."
