FARMINGTON, Mich. (WWJ) -- Farmington police are looking for a man they say broke into and stole money from two downtown businesses and attempted to get into two other businesses in the early hours of the New Year.
Authorities say between 4-5:30 a.m. Tuesday a man broke into two restaurants -- Mi.Mosa, located in the 23300 block of Farmington Road and Browndog Barlor in the 33300 block of Grand River Avenue -- and stole cash register drawers.
The lone suspect damaged the deadbolt locks at the two restaurants in order to gain entry and tried to do the same at two other businesses, but was unable to gain entry. Police did not disclose the names of the other businesses.
Police describe the suspect as a white male approximately 60 years old, between 5-foot-8 and 5-foot-10, weighing around 180-210 lbs.
The man was clean shaven and wearing dark pants, a dark blue winter coat with tan sleeves, a black knit hat, dark frame eyeglasses, and dark color gloves.
Police have released a photo of the man captured from surveillance video at one of the businesses. They are asking anyone who recognizes him or has information about the crimes to contact Detective Will Wood at 248-474-5500, ext: 2239 or the patrol desk at 248-474-4700.
Police say investigators are working with area businesses to develop further suspect information in this case.
