(WWJ) There's savage -- and then there's this bet by Michigan Attorney General Dana Nessel.

Nessel took rivalry to a whole new level Monday when she tweeted a challenge at her counterpart in Ohio that hinges on the much-anticipated rivalry football game between the University of Michigan and Ohio State.

Hello, Ohio State? Hold the "The," keep the salt.

Nessel said if Ohio State wins, she'll wear scarlet and gray for a week. If Michigan wins, Ohio will have to do something a little more meaningful.

She's referencing the phosphorus release that brings an unsighly and dangerous algae bloom to Lake Erie. Michigan has reduced phosphorous releases by 36% since 2008, Bridge Magazine reports, thanks to farmers who reduced their usage of fertilizer that causes the runoff and reductions from the Detroit sewage plant, which empties into the Detroit River that feeds Lake Erie.

Ohio, not so much.

"The far bigger problem lies in the fertile land in the Maumee River watershed across northwest Ohio and on into Indiana, an area of 4 million acres, 90 percent of it farmland (there are roughly 10 million acres of farmland in all of Michigan)," Bridge reported.

So, game on, Ohio.
