When you were fighting the flooding today, thinking to yourself that it can't get any worse, just know that the upper peninsula was hit with snow. In May.

We saw some snowfall across the upper peninsula," said National Weather Service meteorologist Joe Phillips, "especially in the areas where the terrain is higher. Some of the reports that we have seen so far, especially in parts of Baraga and Marquette County, widespread three to four inches so far. Here in the office we measured 1.4 inches."

The snow is supposed to continue into Thursday and by the time the flakes have stopped falling, yoopers will be dealing with upwards of seven inches.

While it may seem absurd to hear that it's snowing this close to summer, Phillips states that it's happened before.

"It is a little abnormal for snow to fall at this time of the year," said Phillips, "but it's not unheard of. In 2005 we actually measured 1.2 inches of snowfall and that was the previous record. As of this morning we did break the daily record."

As you can see in the video, this isn't just a little dusting, but a full on snow storm and it may not be the last time this happens.

Phillips claims that it's too soon to declare this the final snowfall of the season and that the U.P. has seen snow fall as late as May 10.
