MONROE, Mich. (WWJ) -- Michigan State Police say a mother and her son are not injured after they were involved in an accident with a train Sunday morning.
Troopers say around 9 a.m. they were called to the intersection of Albain and South Telegraph Roads in Monroe after reports of a crash involving a train and a passenger vehicle.
A 29-year-old woman from Canton, with her eight-year-old son in the vehicle, was driving her Chrysler 200 westbound on Albain. Troopers say she was going too fast for the snowy conditions and she was unable to stop before the railroad tracks, sliding to a stop on top of the tracks.
The train proceeded through the crossing and hit the car on the front passenger side.
The Monroe News reports that the car caught fire, but both occupants were able to escape and neither was injured
Despite the car catching fire as a result of the crash, the driver and her passenger escaped uninjured. https://t.co/gO9KiMhRi1

MSP is using the accident as a reminder for drivers to slow down during the winter weather.
Information on a car versus train crash which happened in Monroe County. Amazingly, no serious injuries. If you need a reminder to slow down on snowy/icy roads, how about going too fast for conditions and sliding onto a railroad crossing in front of an oncoming train!! pic.twitter.com/1UQWp0SKyS
