FARMINGTON HILLS (WWJ) - A teenager is allegedly responsible for setting two fires at an apartment complex in Farmington Hills.
Police said Wednesday morning that a 14-year-old boy was arrested in connection with arsons at the Fairmont Apartments along 9 Mile near Drake.
The first fire happened on Friday, when a vehicle in the parking lot was set on fire. Then the next day, a second fire was set inside a vacant apartment in the complex. Both were small fires that were extinguished quickly and no injuries were reported.
According to police, detectives saw the teen around 9 p.m. Tuesday getting ready to go inside an unoccupied unit and tried to stop him. The teen tried to run from officers, police said, but was caught after a foot chase.
Investigators believe the suspect acted alone, though no motive has been released.
Charges are pending.
