AUBURN HILLS (WWJ) - Two people have been arrested in connection with pornography played on a digital billboard along I-75.
On a Saturday night last September, 911 calls came pouring in from stunned drivers who saw the porn on the board, south of M-59, in Oakland County.
Police said the suspects scaled a 6-foot fence and forced entry into a shed housing the computer that operates the billboard. They loaded up the graphic video, which played on both sides of the board for about 20 minutes before the board's owner shut it off.
Police released a surveilence photo of the suspects they said appeared to be young white males, wearing glasses and hoodies, asking for tips to help identify them.
While Auburn Hills police confirmed the arrests to WWJ Newsradio 950 on Friday, they would not release any details about the suspects or the investigation. Reports say they are two teenagers, ages 16 and 18, although WWJ was not immediately able to verify that detail.
It's unclear yet if charges have been filed.
Police last year said the culprits could faces 90 days in jail and/or a $500 fine under an Auburn Hills ordinance that prohibits promoting pornography in public. They also face potential burglary charges for forcing entry into the building, police said, which is a felony offense.
