KINGSLEY, Mich. (WWJ/AP) - Police say two veteran corrections officers have been found dead in the northern Michigan home they shared.
The Grand Traverse County Sheriff's Office said the bodies of 53-year-old Tara Kelley and 49-year-old Angelina Winn were found Friday at a home on Walton Road in Paradise Township, about a half-hour south of Traverse City. Both worked at Oaks Correctional Facility in Manistee.
An investigation into how the women died continues, but the sheriff's office said they have no reason to believe there is a threat to the public. Autopsy results are pending.
Both women spent most of their corrections careers at Pugsley Correctional Facility in Kingsley and moved to the Oaks in 2016 when Pugsley closed. In an email informing employees of the deaths, MDOC Director Heidi Washington said both women "will be missed by many."
