(WWJ) Police are investgating a fatal shooting in Oakland County late Saturday night.
Madison Heights police said they got calls about a fight before a call came in about shots fired around 11:45 p.m.
When they arrived at the intersection of 11 Mile Road and Hales, between Dequindre Rd. and John R in Madison Heights, they found a 21-year old Redford man lying in the roadway.
Police said the young man had suffered a gunshot to the chest and was pronounced deceased on scene. He had a handgun on him at the time, police said, and the gun was recovered.
Authorities said they determined that the 29-year-old Detroit man who called 911 to report the shooting was, in fact, the shooter. He also had a handgun on him, police said, and was confirmed to be a valid Michigan Concealed Pistol License (CPL) holder.
No additonal injuries were reported.
The alleged shooter was arrested at the scene; but was released from custody Monday pending further investigation.
Police did not offer any details about what may have led to the shooting.
No charges have been filed, and no names have been released.
