REDFORD TOWNSHIP (WWJ) - Three suspects are in custody, but one is still at large, following a series of home invasions in Redford Township.
Over the past couple weeks, an armed robbery crew has been breaking into houses typically during the day while the residents are at work and early in the morning. Police say the burglaries occurred across the township, but have been focused just north and south of 5 Mile Road in the last few days.
"Their M.O. in this case is, there's a suspect that will knock on the front door. If they don't get an answer, they go to the back of the home and usually break a door or a window to gain access," Redford Police Capt. Al DiPrima told WWJ's Charlie Langton.
On Wednesday afternoon, police attempted to stop a vehicle they believed was involved in the break-ins, but the suspects refused sped away from officers. Police chased after the vehicle, a minivan that was stolen during a carjacking in Detroit, until it crashed near Evergreen Road and Outer Drive.
Three suspects were arrested but a fourth person is still on the run. No description was provided.
