DETROIT (WWJ) - A man accused of killing an elderly man and stuffing his lifeless body inside a cabinet has been charged with premeditated murder.

Carlos Terry, 38, was arraigned Thursday on charges of first-degree murder and first-degree felony murder in the death of 85-year-old Albert Wright.

Wright was found dead just before noon Tuesday by officers responded to a wellbeing check at his home, on Pilgrim Street near the Lodge Freeway and Livernois, after he hadn't been seen in several days. When officers received no answer at the door, they requested assistance from the Detroit Fire Department and gained entry.

Officers found Wright's body bound and gagged inside a metal cabinet in his basement. He also had obvious head trauma.

Terry was located inside the home and placed under arrest. It's alleged that he stole personal items from Wright and then killed him.

Terry was remanded to jail. He's due back in court for a probable cause conference on Feb. 5 and a preliminary exam on Feb. 12.
