SOUTHFIELD (WWJ) - A Westland man has been ordered held without bond, charged with premeditated murder in the death of his girlfriend in Southfield.

Adrian Deshawn Hill, 32, was taken into custody Thursday, according to Southfield police, and arraigned in 46th District Court Friday in the slaying of 29-year-old Markia Leggett of Southfield.

Hill faces four felony counts, including first degree murder, two counts of felony firearm - second offense, and felon in possession of a firearm.

Leggett's body was found around 9:45 p.m. Sunday, March 22, at the Pine Aire Apartments on 12 Mile Road near Franklin Road, just east of Northwestern Highway. Police responded to a call about gunshots and found Leggett fatally shot inside a unit. She was declared dead at the scene.

After the shots were heard, Hill was seen running from the apartment building. Police said he got into a Dodge Ram 1500 pickup truck and sped off.

Investigators had asked for tips from the public to help find Hill, before he was found and arrested in Detroit.

"I would like to thank and commend Mark Jankowski, Acting United States Marshal for the Eastern District of Michigan and the members of the United States Marshals Detroit Fugitive Apprehension Team for their dedication and tireless efforts to seek justice for the family of Ms. Leggett," Southfield Police Chief Elvin Barren said, in a statement. "This partnership is a great example of how federal and local law enforcement agencies can effectively work together to apprehend violent fugitives."

Michigan Department of Corrections records show Hill has a criminal history, including convictions for breaking an entering, receiving/concealing stolen property and gun charges.

Remanded into custody after his arraignment, Hills will remain held in the Oakland County Jail as he awaits his Probable Cause Conference scheduled for April 16.
