SANDUSKY, Ohio (WWJ) - Coronavirus is causing a delay in opening of Cedar Point this year.
Opening Day at the park, which was originally scheduled for May 9, has now been pushed back to "mid-May or as soon thereafter as possible."
Park officials say the decision to delay opening was made in the "best interest of our associates, our guests, and our communities," and applies to all Cedar Point Resorts properties and Cedar Point Marinas. The park's Castaway Bay Resort hotel has been closed since March 14.
Guests who have an existing reservation or prepaid specific day ticket during the time period of the park closure should contact customer service. For prepaid ticket inquiries, submit your request at: cedarpoint.com/contact-us. For hotel re-bookings, email cpresorts@cedarpoint.com.
For 2020 Season Passholders, the park will be adding days to its operating calendar to accommodate for days the park is temporarily closed. Passholders will also enjoy additional benefits that will be announced when the amusement park opens.
