(WWJ) A Dearborn woman is dead and an Eastpointe woman in critical condition following a crash, south of Mt. Pleasant.
Authorities say the 22-year-old Dearborn resident lost control of her 2009 Jeep Liberty on Fremont Road in Lincoln Township Wednesday night, and crashed into a utility pole.
Dispatchers advised Isabella County Sheriff's deputies that one person had been ejected from the vehicle while another was trapped inside. Upon arrival, deputies found the ejected woman conscious but critically injured. Firefighters also responded and removed the Jeep's doors to free the driver.
The driver was airlifted to a Grand Rapids hospital, were she was pronounced dead.
Her 21-year-old passenger was taken to a Midland hospital where she is being treated for multiple injuries.
It's unclear at this time what caused the driver to lose control.
Investigators said crash apparently happened as the Jeep was cresting a hill on the dirt road. The Jeep slid sideways and then either rolled onto its side or went partially airborne before the crash.
It does not appear that any additional vehicles were involved.
No names have been released as the investigations continues.
