Detroit Homeowner Injured In Shootout With Alleged Intruders

DETROIT (WWJ) - Police say a Detroit homeowner was shot and injured after exchanging fire with two suspects who were allegedly breaking into his west side home.

The 36-year-old man told police he was awakened around 4:45 a.m. Saturday by the sound of the front door being kicked in at his home in the 4000 block of 33rd Street, near Michigan Avenue and Livernois.


The homeowner fired one shot at the suspects, who then fired several rounds into the home from the front porch.

The homeowner suffered a gunshot wound to the body as well as a graze wound and was transported to a local hospital. His current condition is unknown. 

The suspects, described only as two males, ran off on foot and remain at large.
